🚀 AI-powered Training – Accelerating Organizational Impact (19 March 2025)
A powerful 2-hour AI workshop at Polyglot Al-Khoudh, brought together government, education, and private sector leaders (30+) to explore the real-world impact of AI.
💡 Highlights from the presentation:
The biggest barrier to scaling (AI) is not employees —who are ready—but leaders, who are NOT STEERING FAST ENOUGH. [McKinsey 2025, Superagency in the Workplace]
- Use Case Example 1: AI-powered customer support agent providing user interactions via a chatbot ("CoachBot")—a multi-tiered architecture integrating LLMs via API calls. [xpot.ai]
- Use Case Example 2: Early disease detection and diagnosis through AI-powered eye scans: Director Hamdan Al Alawi emphasized that Oman will utilize this technology to enhance the diagnosis of diabetes, improving accuracy and early intervention.
🧠 One of the core questions:
"What future skills do we need to build today?"
🌍 Thomas Lloyd (Country Director, British Council Oman) pointed to Alan Turing Institute’s “AI Skills for Business Competency Framework”, which defines five dimensions (from Privacy and Stewardship, Data Acquisition and Engineering, to a full Problem-Solving cycle, including Definition, Analysis, Modelling, Visualization, Evaluation and Reflection).
🎙️ Burkhard Wilmers (AI Traniner & Consultant, xpot.ai) emphasized that the key meta-skill is using AI in a way that accelerates personal learning and growth, not just delegating tasks. His guiding question:
"Am I using AI in a way that helps me learn and grow—or am I becoming dependent?"
🇴🇲 Hamdan Al Alawi (Director of AI and Advanced Technology Development Program, Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT) shared impressive national AI initiatives advancing Oman Vision 2040. He highlighted that there are powerful and inexpensive resources for online AI education, like Coursera.com (and Deeplearning.ai).
🧭 Moderated brilliantly by Eng. Ruba Fadhal Bait Bin Saleem, the discussion brought diverse perspectives and practical next steps for AI adoption across sectors.
This event was warmly hosted by Polyglot—special thanks to CEO Al-Qasim Al-Harthi and Director Sawsan Al-Matua—and brilliantly organized by Academic Director Zahra Al-Jamei.
